Artwork for the Little Canyon Trail is integrated in to the overall plan set for the 1/2 mile long multi-use path between Camelback road and Missouri. Artist, Laurie Lundquist, worked closely with Michael Tarek at Sherman Group Landscape Architects and the City of Phoenix throughout the design process of the pathway.
PORTAL ARCHES that frame the historic irrigation lateral honor the legacy of watering the desert. Water flowing through this ditch has irrigated horse pastures, pecan trees, cotton, corn and even grapes at various times since it was dug in the 1880s.
The lucky horseshoes are a tribute to the ongoing heritage of horses in the west valley.
Artist designed benches with custom concrete relief patterns define the park seating node. Lundquist also designed a customized fence along the west side project boundary.
